How to increase the finish of ABS injection molded parts

The appearance of ABS is opaque and ivory-colored particles. Its products can be tinted into colorful and have a high gloss of 90%. It is widely used in home appliances, automobiles, and electronic appliances. How can ABS injection molded parts increase brightness? Modified plastic editor will explain to you from the perspective of raw materials.

  1. Large difference in raw material particle size

The large difference in particle size makes it difficult to plasticize uniformly, and the gloss is poor. For this, the raw materials should be sieved.

  2. Poor temperature resistance of raw materials

Some raw materials will decompose and change color during temperature adjustment and cause poor gloss. For this, materials with better temperature resistance should be used.

3, the dispersion of additives is not good

The dispersibility of some additives is too poor and the gloss of the plastic parts is poor. For this, the additives with better flow properties should be used instead.

   4. There are too many secondary materials in the raw materials

If the recycled material or nozzle material is added too much, the uniform plasticization of the melt will be affected and the gloss will be poor. For this reason, the amount of recycled material or nozzle material should be reduced.

      5. The raw materials contain volatile matter

If the content of moisture or volatile matter in the raw material is too high, it will volatilize into gas when heated, and condense in the cavity and melt, resulting in poor gloss of the plastic part. For this, the raw material should be pre-dried.

  6, raw materials are impure

If the raw materials are mixed with foreign matter, miscellaneous materials or incompatible materials, they cannot be uniformly mixed and melted with the raw materials, resulting in poor gloss. For this, these miscellaneous materials should be strictly excluded in advance.

7, the amount of lubricant is too small

If the amount of lubricant is too small, the fluidity of the melt is poor, and the surface of the plastic part is not dense, resulting in poor gloss. For this, the amount of lubricant should be appropriately increased.

Therefore, it should be based on whether the polish of your mold meets the requirements. If there is no problem with the mold itself, determine the characteristics of your ABS. You can choose high mold temperature, high speed and high pressure; the smoothness can also be achieved with frozen water.
