Plastic injection molding items are custom products manufactured using the plastic injection molding process. This manufacturing technique involves injecting molten plastic material into a mold cavity, which is then cooled and solidified to form a finished product. The mold can be custom designed to manufacture different injection molding items.

Principles of Plastic Injection Molding

Plastic injection molding is a manufacturing process in which molten plastic material is injected into a mold and cooled to obtain the desired product. The basic principles are as follows:

  1. Plastic material heating and melting: First, plastic granules or granular resin are added to the hopper of the injection molding machine, and the plastic material is heated and gradually melted by heating and spiral propulsion.
  2. Injection: When the plastic melts to a certain extent, start the injection mechanism of the injection molding machine, open the injection port of the mold, and let the molten plastic enter the cavity. The injection action is usually controlled by a hydraulic system, which pushes the plastic into the mold cavity through hydraulic cylinders.
  3. Pressure and cooling: After the injection is finished, the mold will be quickly closed to fix the injected plastic in the cavity. At the same time, the cooling system will start to circulate cooling water, which will contact the plastic through the surface of the mold to make it cool and solidify rapidly. Cooling time depends on the type of plastic and the size of the mold.
  4. Mold opening and de-molding: After the plastic is cooled, the injection molding machine starts the mold opening mechanism, opens the mold, and takes the formed plastic product out of the mold. The molding action is usually done by a hydraulic system or mechanical arm.
  5. Pending process: After demolding, sometimes follow-up processes are required, such as removing residues in the cavity, trimming edges, assembling, printing, etc.

The plastic injection molding process can be used to produce plastic products of various sizes and shapes and is widely used in industrial manufacturing.

Application of plastic injection molding items

Plastic injection molding is widely used to produce a variety of items, including:

  • Bottles and containers: Plastic bottles for beverages, toiletries, cleaning products, and other consumer products are often produced by injection molding.
  • Packaging materials: Plastic trays, blister packs, food containers, and other packaging components are usually manufactured using this process.
  • Automobile parts: Many parts of automobiles, such as dashboards, bumpers, interior panels, knobs, etc., are made by injection molding.
  • Electronic and electrical components: Plastic casings for smartphones, computers, game consoles, and various electronic devices are often produced by injection molding.
  • Medical Devices: Items such as syringes, tubing, connectors, and various medical equipment components are manufactured using this process.
  • Home appliances: Many parts of home appliances, including vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, washing machines, and kitchen utensils, are made by injection molding.
  • Toys and game accessories: Plastic figures, game controllers, board game parts, and other toys and game accessories are often manufactured by this method.
  • Furniture components: Plastic components such as chair and table legs, handles and frames are often made using plastic injection molding.

Plastic injection molding can produce complex shapes, high precision, and high-volume products. It is a cost-effective and efficient manufacturing technique applied in various industries.

Materials for plastic injection molding items

Common ones include:

  1. Polyethylene (PE)
  2. Polypropylene (PP)
  3. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
  4. Polystyrene (PS)
  5. Polyester (PET)

In addition, polycarbonate (PC), nylon (PA), polyoxymethylene (POM), and other materials are also commonly used in the production of plastic injection molding products. Which material to choose depends on the needs of the product, such as strength, heat resistance, transparency, etc.
