Description

  EDM, also known as electrical discharge machining, is a kind of special machining technology.

  Electric discharge machining is a special machining method that uses the electric erosion effect produced by the pulse discharge between the two electrodes immersed in the working fluid to ablate conductive materials. It is also called electric discharge machining or electro-erosion machining, and its English abbreviation is EDM. EDM can be used to process superhard materials and complex-shaped workpieces that are difficult to process by traditional cutting methods, but it is limited to conductive materials.

  The principle of EDM is to add a periodic and rapidly changing electric field between the conductive tool electrode and the workpiece, and the local high temperature generated by the pulse discharge will melt and vaporize the metal on the surface of the workpiece, thereby eroding the metal. Therefore, there is almost no need for cutting force.
