Due to the application of the new technology of rapid prototyping, the design and manufacture of molds tend to be digitized and rapid.

A variety of process methods have been developed according to mold materials, production costs, materials of RP prototypes, production batches, and mold precision requirements. The current rapid molding methods generally include indirect molding methods and direct molding methods. Most of the methods for rapidly manufacturing molds based on RP are indirect molding methods. According to different materials, the molds produced by the indirect molding method include soft molds, bridge molds and hard molds. Soft tooling generally refers to silicone rubber molds. Prototypes made with SLA, FDM, LOM or SLS technology are then turned into silicone rubber molds, and two-component polyurethane is poured into the mold, and the required parts are obtained after curing.
Rapid moulding technology has short moulding cycle, simple process, easy promotion, low moulding cost, precision and longevity can meet certain specific functional requirements, and comprehensive economic benefits are good. It is a technology, especially suitable for new product development and trial production, Process validation and functional validation as well as multi-variety small batch production.
